Hadi Jahangiri, Ph.D., ResearcherHadi Jahangiri received his Ph.D. in Metallurgical and Materials Engineering from Istanbul Technical University in 2017. During his Ph.D., he studied on Mechanical Alloying, Powder Metallurgy, Sintering (conventional sintering and Spark Plasma Sintering), Materials Characterization. In 2019, he joined Koç University Surface Science and Technology Center (KUYTAM) as a researcher. His research mainly focuses on X-Ray Diffraction analyzing, surface characterization methods, nanopowder processing, metallic and ceramic thin films, and high entropy ceramics.

Yağız Morova, Ph.D., Part-time ResearcherYağız Morova received his Ph.D. in Physics Engineering from Istanbul Technical University in 2021. He also worked as a research assistant in the same department. His studies focused on solid-state laser applications of femtosecond laser inscribed devices and upconversion pumped fluoride-based thulium lasers. In 2021, he joined Koç University Surface Science and Technology Center (KUYTAM) team as a postdoctoral researcher. His research interests include development of novel infrared solid-state lasers and femtosecond laser structured photonic devices.

Amir Motallebzadeh, Ph.D., ResearcherAmir Motallebzadeh received his Ph.D. in Metallurgical and Materials Engineering from Istanbul Technical University in 2015. During his Ph.D., he studied microstructural characterization and mechanical properties of hardfacing coatings at high temperatures. In 2016, he joined Koç University Surface Science and Technology Center (KUYTAM) as a researcher. His research activities focus mainly on metallic and ceramic thin films, magnetron sputtering, high-entropy alloys, hardfacing alloys, surface characterization methods, mechanical properties of coatings and tribology.

Gülsu Şimşek Franci, Ph.D., ResearcherGülsu Şimşek received her PhD in Materials Science and Engineering from Istanbul Technical University in 2011. She worked in a postdoc project focused on the characterization of Böttger stoneware supervised by the Art Institute of Chicago and Northwestern University between 2011-2012. Afterwards, she worked in a second postdoc project about the characterization of Qalhat ceramics in the laboratory of MONARIS (formerly LADIR) University of Paris VI. Prior to joining KUYTAM in June 2016, she worked in the Central and Regional Laboratory of Restoration and Conservation in Istanbul. Her field of expertise covers the characterization of cultural heritage materials, such as gilded silver wires embroidered in textiles, ``Iznik`` tiles, Meissen proto-porcelain, red stonewares, Chinese ceramics, glass beads, and pigments of Osman Hamdi Bey's paintings with SEM-EDS, XRF, Raman spectroscopy, FTIR and LA ICP-MS.

Alper Uzun, Associate DirectorAlper Uzun is an Associate Professor in the Chemical and Biological Engineering Department at Koç University. He received his PhD in Chemical Engineering from the University of California, Davis in 2009. He then moved to UC Berkeley for a post-doctoral appointment. Afterwards he worked in the industry as an R&D Engineering at the Bartlesville Technology Center of ConocoPhillips (Phillips 66) before joining Koç University in 2012.
His research mainly focuses on developing solutions for future energy problems. His group works on elucidating the structure-performance relationships in heterogeneous catalysts for converting low-valued hydrocarbons into valuable fuels and in porous materials for the storage and separation of gasses.

Uğur Ünal, DirectorUğur Ünal is an Associate Professor in the Chemistry Department at Koç University. He received his PhD in Applied Chemistry and Biochemistry from the Kumamoto University 2004. His research interests are Inorganic Chemistry, Advanced Ceramics Processing, Synthesis and Applications of Nano size inorganic materials, Functional inorganic Layered Materials, Electrochemical, Photochemical Applications of Inorganic Materials (Solar Cells, Water Splitting, Photocatalytic Applications, Nano Cells).

M. Barış Yağcı, Ph.D., Associate DirectorBarış Yağcı received his Ph.D. degree in Materials and Interface Chemistry from Eindhoven University of Technology, The Netherlands. His project focused on the synthesis and characterization of novel antimicrobial surface coatings. Then, he worked at a start-up R&D company ``Am Coatings``, The Netherlands in 2011 as researcher. Since March 2012, he has been working at KUYTAM. His research interests are antibacterial coatings, free radical, controlled and condensation polymerization techniques, organic/inorganic materials and surface characterization, polyesters, polyurethanes, polyacrylates, ionic liquids, and lubricants (mineral engine oils).
